Desalpe Festival

This weekend you can enjoy in various Swiss villages the Desalpe Festival. Join the villagers welcoming the sheperds coming down from the mountains with the cows, adorned with beautiful flowers around their horns, and enjoy the typical dishes and markets set for the occasion.

Closer to Geneva you can go to Saint-Cergue, to Schwarzsee (both in Vaud) or further away, to Charmey (Fribourg).

Everything will take place on Sauturday 27, 2014 and I will be enjoying it with my friend Nagore! Thanks for reminding me of this!!!

Montreaux Jazz Festival

Until July 19, the Montreaux Jazz Festival is ON!!! Since 1967, different styles of artists come together in Switzerland to offer free concerts and jam sessions each night around the lake. There are of course paid venues where you can listen from up-close to some of the greatest stars of the world!

Check the programme and decide when to go! It's a no miss opportunity!

Fête de la Musique

From today until Sunday you will be able to enjoy around Geneva more than 500 free performances during the annual Fête de la Musique weekend. Listen different styles of music in different venues, from parks to concert halls, while having a drink and a relaxed bite.

Caves ouvertes

Tomorrow April 24 you will be able to enjoy in the vineyards around Geneva a day of wine tasting and cheese eating!

For around Sfr 5.- you will be able to buy a glass of wine, and with that, go around all the vineyards tasting their delicious wine. Better to take the train!

Brocante at Versoix

Tomorrow, on April 26, you can go for a walk around Versoix and enjoy their borcante at the Place du Bourg, with more than 40 second-hand exhibitors. For sure you will find something nice!

7th Hot Air Balloon Festival at Geneva

If you are staying in Geneva for Easter holidays, from April 18 to April 21 the 7th Hot Air Balloon Festival will be taking place in our adoptive home city. Pilots from Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, the U.S., and, of course, Switzerland will meet at Geneva's skies to make us enjoy the colorful show!

If the weather allows it, we will be able to enjoy five hot air balloons going up from the five most important parks in the city. A giant caterpillar, and old joker pilor, a very large duckling, Darth Vader and a blow-up roster will also be part of the show.

Paleo 2014

As my friend Nagore has kindly reminded me, today at noon you can start buying the tickets for the Paleo festival!!! This year you will be able to enjoy days with Placebo, Elton John, Vanessa Paradis, The Prodigy or Thirty Seconds to Mars. Check their site www.paleo.ch and get your tickets today!

Paleo takes place at Nyon from July 22 to July 27 and the price of the tickets can go up to Sfr 65.- for one day to Sfr 365.- for a six day pass.

Geneva International Jewish Film Festival

The 4th Geneva International Jewish Film Festival will take place from March 26 to March 30 at the Maisons des Arts de Grütli, and will offer a programme of international films exploring Jewish cultures and experiences. You will be able to discover some of the outstanding filmmakers and actors who created these films!

42th International Inventions Exhibition

From April 2 to April 6, 2014 you can find at Palexpo the International Inventions Exhibition. Industrial companies, universities, inventors, researchers… all come together for five days to show to the visitors more than 1.000 inventions. Drop by to check what's new in the market!

Antique Dealer Fair

As from yesterday and until this Sunday March 9, 2014, you will be able to find antique and second-hand dealers at the Salles de Fêtes de Carouge (Rue Ancienne 37).

84th Salon de l'Auto

Once more, Palexpo receives the Salon de l'Auto from March 6 to March 16, 2014.

Always a great success, last year the show received 690.000 visitors from different countries around the globe.

You can find everything, from the more convenient cars you might end up buying, to amazingly futuristic cars, crazy expensive cars… you name it!

Saturday and Sunday: 9am - 7pm

If you buy it as from 4pm to use that same day, the cost is only of Sfr 8.-!!!

The International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights

This is the 12th edition of the FIFDH festival, a Forum on Human Rights where violations of civil, political, economical, social and cultural rights are denounced. The festival wishes to celebrate women and men around the world in their fight for human dignity.

Traverses Musicales Festival

The 22 and 23 of February will take place for the 17th consecutive year the Traverses Musicales festival.

This festival is organized so that new groups, many local from Geneva, have a chance to get known in the music world. The entrance fee never exceds the Sfr 25.- to make it accesible for anyone who enjoys music.

Groove n' Move Festival

From the 13 to the 22 of February you can enjoy in Geneva the Groove n' Move festival! All around Geneva you can enjoy shows, documentaries, parties and workshops. Check their website http://groove-n-move.ch to find more about the style that suits you best!

Art Genève 2014

Again in Palexpo, from January 30 until February 2, all art lovers can enjoy Art Genève. Doesn't matter if you just feel like looking around or if you are up to some serious art shopping, this is definetly the place to be!

At Art Genève you will find internationally renowned art galleries, independent spaces and curators. Come and take a look!

36th Hot Air Balloon Festival - Château d'Oex

From January 25 to February 2 there will be a Hot Air Balloon Festival at Château d'Oex (1h45min from Geneva). There will be air shows, balloons of different shapes coloring the sky, competitions… Check the programme at their site:

During the event, and of course also through the year, you can also book balloon flights to see the Pays d'Enhaut valley from the air! If you have nothing to do during the weekend, be sure to drop by for a visit!

20th Exhibition for Holidays: Travel and Leisure

There is one thing I do not like that much about Geneva… there are not too many bank holidays! Go to Palexpo from January 24 to January 26 and get inspired about all the places you can visit, and maximize your 2014 holidays!!!

Festival Black Movie 2014
